Global Community

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and its education programme - Fish and Kids - operates globally.

MSC certified schools in Europe

There are over 3000 primary schools in the UK that have been awarded the MSC Chain of Custody certification under their school meals provider. This number is growing all the time as Local Education Authorities and contract caterers look to commit to sustainable purchasing practices for seafood.

In Sweden and France, there are over 100 MSC certified schools also committed to serving independently certified sustainable seafood to their students.

Education and awareness building

By joining Fish and Kids, you are joining a global community of fishing associations, educational establishments and supply chain businesses that show consideration for the marine environment.

Helping children in schools to understand where their food comes from and how to protect this vital resource for the future is an essential step in transforming the world’s oceans and protecting the future of our favourite fish dinners.

Check out our Days Out section to find out about how other organisations are engaging with Fish and Kids around the world.

MSC around the world

The MSC engages with fishermen, supply chains, retailers and customers around the world to ensure that: fish stocks are well managed, fragile supporting marine habitats are protected and consumers have an easy visual tool to help them make an informed choice when purchasing seafood at home or eating out.
