About

This film is about the MSC fisheries standard. The fisheries standard measures the sustainability of wild-capture fisheries. The standard is open to all fisheries, including those from the developing world. The film explains the principles underlying the MSC standard and why it is so important that these principles are implemented and upheld globally.

The three principles are:

  1. The fishery must monitor the amount of fish they catch to ensure this is always at a sustainable level.
  2. The fishery must minimise its environmental impact and not jeopardise the supporting ecosystems.
  3. There must be an effective fishery management system in place.
